Guide to purchasing ebooks & resolving ebook problems

1 Purchasing ebooks

You can choose to purchase ebooks either by buying the physical textbooks and using the codes printed inside the front/back covers of the textbooks or by purchasing ebook licenses directly from the publishers website.

Please be aware that some textbooks do not offer an ebook only package – these are mostly Senior Cycle books but some option subjects at Junior Cycle level require the purchase of a physical textbook with an ebook code inside the cover.

In the case of purchases directly from the publishers, please ensure you use the intended account email address (the students email) and also ensure you are purchasing a license for the number of years the ebooks is needed eg. 3 year licenses for Junior Cycle or 2 year licenses for Senior Cycle.

If you have purchased ebooks only, you will receive your ebooks code via email. Sometimes this is one code for several ebooks and sometimes this might include several codes for each individual ebook.

2 Adding ebooks to your account

To add ebooks to your account, you will first need to ensure you have the details of your ebook account. For new students, your ebook account is created by Wriggle when you purchase your device. The details of the account are printed on your welcome pack sheet from Wriggle. The account username is your student email address & your password is a series of 4 letters and 4 numbers.

If you are an existing student and have forgotten your details for your account; seaerch your email inbox for an email from Edco Support – you will have received an email from Edco when your account was created with your details. The same details are used across all ebook publishers.

If you cannot locate this email, skip down this page to number 6 for further instructions.

Once you have signed into your ebook account you can begin to redeem your ebook codes. For each publisher there is a different process to complete the redemption of codes.

Educate.ie

Visit the following link educate.ie and enter in the email address of the student and their ebook account password. You should now see a box to enter in your code. Once you have entered the code, click redeem and you will see a visual of the ebook. If this is the correct book, click the confirm button. If this is not the correct book, click no and recheck your ebook code. You can then click on ‘redeem another code’ to add more ebooks to the account.

The ebooks will appear immediately within the online Educate app (www.educateplus.ie) but may take up to 48 hours to appear in the app. Students can use their ebooks in either platform once they are logged into the account.

Edco

Visit Edco Learning - Login or open your Edco app. Log into your account. At the top of your screen you should see an option to redeem a code & add a book to your account. Once you have clicked this button, you can type in your ebook code & choose redeem. The ebook will then be added to your account.

If your ebooks are not working correctly, please try visiting the website of the publisher to see if your ebooks are appearing online. If the ebooks are appearing online, this means the problem is with your app. If your ebooks are still unavailable online, this means the problem is with your ebook account.

The ebooks will appear immediately within the online Edco site (www.edcolearning.ie) but may take up to 48 hours to appear in the Edco app. Students can use their ebooks in either platform once they are logged into the account.

Folens

Open your Folens Hive app. Log into your account. At the top of your screen you should see an option to redeem a code & add a book to your account. Once you have clicked this button, you can type in your ebook code & choose redeem. The ebook will then be added to your account.

Gill

Visit the Gill Explore Activation Portal and sign into your student ebook account. Type in the code for your ebook as prompted.

The ebooks will appear immediately within the online Gill Explore app & on the Gill Explore website (www.gillexplore.ie) It may take up to 48 hours to appear in the app. Students can use their ebooks in either platform once they are logged into the account.

4schools.ie

Once you purchase an ebook from the 4schools.ie website, it will appear in the ‘Digital Library’ for students to access immediately. The ebooks will then also appear in the Examcraft app, this may take up to 48 hours to occur.

CJFallon

Log into the CJFallon reader app. Choose ‘Add title’ at the top of the screen. Enter in your ebook code. Your ebook will be added to your account automatically and your ebook can be accessed immediately.

Mentor

Log into the Mentor app. Choose ‘Add title’ at the top of the screen. Enter in your ebook code. Your ebook will be added to your account automatically and your ebook can be accessed immediately.

3. Ebooks appearing as ‘not owned’

If your ebooks are appearing your publisher app as ‘not owned’, check that you are logged into your school account. To do this, click the person symbol in the menu on the left hand side of your app, enter your username (email) & password and choose log in. You should now see your ebooks appearing as ‘owned’ or downloaded.

If your ebooks are still not appearing in your app, check the website of that publisher, log into your account and see if your ebooks are available online. If you can see your ebooks in the website but not in your app, the issue is with your app. You may need to delete the app & reinstall it or update the app.

4. Ebook code not working/cannot redeem code

If your ebook code is not accepted on the publisher website or in the publisher app, double check that you are typing in the correct code – these can be a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, number & symbols.

If you are sure you have entered the correct code, you will need to contact the individual publisher and provide the details of your account username, the ebook you are trying to redeem, the order number (this should be on the email receipt you receive after purchase) and the code you have received. 5. Ebooks not downloading in the app

If your ebook is not downloading in your app, please make sure you are connected to the internet first. For most publishers, you will be presented with the option to ‘Open Live’ or ‘Download’ your ebooks. Open live means that you will be using the internet to access the ebook, downloaded means you can access the ebook offline. Make sure you have chosen ‘Download’ if you would like to access the ebooks offline. You will always be able to access your ebooks in the ‘Open Live’ function as long as you are connected to the internet.

For the Edco Learning app, at the log in screen you will see a little grey toggle button that allows you to select ‘online’ or ‘offline’. If you have never downloaded the ebook you will need to make sure this toggle is set to ‘online’. It’s a good idea to keep this toggle set to ‘online’ even if you have the ebooks downloaded as it will update the app automatically for you while you are using it.

6. Ebook account not working/locked

If you cannot log into your ebook accont, double check that you are using the correct email address and the correct password. If you are sure you are using the correct details, you will need to contact the publisher to reset your account. To do this use the contact us links below;

7. Ebook app crashes as soon as it is clicked on

If your app is crashing, you may have an error in the app preventing it from loading. You will need to uninstall & reinstall the app. To reinstall the app, you will need to contact Wriggle who will push the app out to your device. You can log a ticket with Wriggle here; www.wriggle.ie/contact-us
