Shoe Box Appeal.

As you may have seen under the Christmas Tree in our reception area, there are dozens of shoe boxes labled for boys and girls. This is a charity appeal organised by Liz Pringle every year and this year there is not only huge need but also great generosity. Please take a minute to promote this appeal in your classrooms and even fill a box yourself and drop it down to then tree. With so many of the nations children not sleeping in their homes this Christmas, a present from you could make someone very happy this Christmas.

Christmas Doors.

This is one of our traditions in the College that creates great excitement each year when tutors and their tutor classes decorate the doors of their tutor rooms for Christmas. They are judged by members of the Student Council and prizes presented during the Multi-Cultural Fashion Show. With the recent climate change march, I am asking students and teachers to consider using recyclable materials or being inventive by “upcycling” and using environmentally friendly materials. I am also asking for door numbers not to be blocked for our new staff to find please.

Market Day.

This Thursday sees our annual Market Day which will take place for the full day in the PE hall.

TY classes, 5th year LCAs, Croí students and approx. 30 LCVP students (list to follow) will be taking part and out of class for the day. If you teach any of these classes, you may be asked to cover a teacher on duty downstairs.

This year, there is a high standard of student products with a chance for everyone to pick up a selection of gifts ranging from Christmas logs and tree decorations, fresh table arrangements, handmade candles and jewellery, to natural beauty products. Students can also take a punt on our Spin the Wheel!

There will be a selection of food available to purchase and our traditional hot chocolate bar will sell a selection of drinks.

TY students are using Market day as a fundraiser. All their profits will go towards their Camino journey and their charities, so all purchases made by both staff and students are greatly appreciated in helping them achieve their goals.

If you have a year group at the times below, please wait until the announcement is made before bringing your class down to the hall. You will be required to stay with your class at that time.

Period 1: 6th years (won't be called until approx. 8.45)

Period 2: 5th years

Period 3: 1st Years

Period 4: 2nd years

Period 5: 3rd years

Each year group will have around 40-45 minutes in the hall.

Thank you to everyone for their help and co-operation and hopefully the day will be a huge success!

Many thanks, Ger, Cara, Shauna and Susan.

LCA Self-defence Lessons

Monday 2nd Dec. and Monday 9th Dec.

LCA classes year 1 and 2 will take part in a 2x2 hour Self-defence sessions in the PE hall. (9.28-11.24)

This is a great opportunity for students to try something different as part of their Leisure and Recreation programme. Teachers involved can bring both classes down to the hall at that time.

Winter Recital.

Our winter Recital which was such a lovely event last year is happening again on December 12th in our canteen. If you can attend at all, it is really worth the effort. Our energetic Music Department are the driving force behind this project as they prepare our students for what is fabulous nights entertainment in an intimate setting.

College Awareness Week.

Last week say our Guidance Department, Susan, Debs and Roisin, pull out all the stops by organising one of our best College Awareness Weeks to date. The calendar for the week was without a free slot as college representatives presented to packed “Demo Rooms” of students egar to find out about different 3rd Level Choices. The “Dream Jobs” wall is still a huge success as is the identifying of what courses and colleges all staff have undertaken to get to this position in their professional lives. If there was no college sticker beside your picture on the Staff Wall, please let either Debs, Susan or Roisin know so that they can update their data base.
