Timetable Response to Covid-19:

Timetable Response to Covid-19

Dear Parent/Guardian

Since our College opened after the break, we have been conducting our classes with the use of satellite centres to facilitate the new Covid-19 guidelines around education.

This has been a challenge for our students, teachers and wi-fi in the College. Our first full day with all students was last Friday and it became apparent very quickly that this situation required a review of practices. To ensure the safe movement of students and to address wi-fi connectivity issues, changes are necessary in the College to maximise the educational experience of our students.

We have reconstructed our timetable and reduced our class sizes, with limited exceptions, therefore reducing the need to use as many satellite centres as possible.

We have created 2 new tutor groups in each year group, except 6th Year where we have 1 extra tutor group. This is to ensure our class sizes reduce. Our Year Heads and Tutors have decided on the students that will be relocated to these classes and will speak with these students. This will be a very considered conversation so that our students, your children, will be able to make the move as seamlessly as possible.

Other changes will include

  • Removing the morning Tutorial and replacing it with a class tutorial once per week. This reduces movement in the building.
  • Changes may be required in PE in 5th and 6th year.
  • School start time moved to 8:15
  • Monday will have 7 periods, 4 before break and 3 after with finishing time being 3:59.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will still have 3 before break and 3 after with school finishing at 3:01
  • Friday will have 4 periods and finish at 12:07.

With all these changes, we will reduce the need for so many satellite centres and movement through the College. This will make our College safer and a more enjoyable educational experience for all.

To facilitate these changes the timetable for next week will be as follows,

Monday 21/09/2020

Staff Planning Day. All students remain at home.

Tuesday 22/09/2020

1st, 2nd and 3rd Years attend school for the full day. Class starts at 8:15. All other students remain at home

Wednesday 23/09/2020

TY, 5th & 6th Years attend school for the full day. Class starts at 8:15. All other students remain at home

Thursday 24/09/2020

All Year Groups return to school. Class starts at 8:15.

We are committed to providing a safe environment for our whole College community and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued patience and support.

Yours sincerely

Liam Walsh, Principal
