Student Bikes
Dear Parents/Guardians and Colleagues
Two students’ bikes were stolen from the school this week. These bikes were parked at the rear of the Community Centre. That is NOT where students are to part their bikes. All students are to park their bikes at the rear of the school where they are locked into the Centre Courtyard all day. Students’ bikes are much safer in the school Centre Courtyard than in any other location. Even if a student arrives late to school, they can bring their bike through the school to park it in the Centre Courtyard. Even if a student is delayed going home in the evening and the gates are locked, they can bring their bike through the school to exit by the Front Door. Parents/Guardians, please have a conversation with your children regarding where they need to park their bikes while in school. Teachers, please remind your students where to park their bikes.
Unfortunately, the theft of bikes is not something that we can 100% prevent, but we can make it more difficult for the thief.
Dream Space Active Citizen Virtual Event
Next Tuesday 5th April our 1st year students will attend a virtual event with Dream space & Microsoft Ireland. This follows on from a very successful & enjoyable internet safety event in February. Students will take part in an immersive learning experience called Active Citizen created by the Nobel Peace Centre in Oslo and Games for Change. Active Citizen brings Nobel Peace laureates past and present into the Minecraft: Education Edition world for students to learn about the challenges and obstacles faced in the pursuit of peace & justice. The Dream Space team will guide students and set challenges for them through the medium of Minecraft: Education Edition while helping them learn that peace is achieved through actions, big and small. They will be joined in this live event by students in schools from across the globe.
In preparation for this event, all 1st year students are asked to fully charge their device over lunchtime, and to bring their device chargers & a set of earphones with them for Tuesday afternoon.
