Yellow Flag

"This academic year in Coláiste Pobail Setanta we are taking part in renewing our yellow flag via the Yellow Flag Programme. Ms Baraut and Ms Kelly are coordinating the programme this year. As a school community, inclusion is something we are very proud of and hope to continue to achieve.

The Yellow Flag Programme involves eight steps which can be completed throughout the academic year. Please see links below to the eight steps, the YFP Handbook, suggested timeline, and information for parents/members of the community.

As a school, we have set up a staff committee. The next step in the programme is to create a diversity committee involving student, parents, and the local community.

We are reaching out to you for help and support with this. The committee can include parents and members of the local community. The committee would meet one to two times a semester to set up goals and to monitor the programme."

Dear Parents/Guardians,

You may have heard of the Government of Ireland campaign “Creating Our Future”. The idea is that members of the public engage in a dialogue on research and to submit their ideas on what they would like researchers to explore. The ideas can be anything from the environment and technology to arts and humanities. You can find all the details on

The Government is very keen to hear from children and parents throughout the country. Parents/teachers are encouraged to talk about research topics with children and then to submit ideas that come up. Every idea will be reviewed by a panel of experts it will go towards a final report to Cabinet as well as a book of inspiration for researchers.

This is a great initiative for encouraging input from our children on the future they wish to see for themselves and promotes critical thinking and citizenship skills. It would be a great way for the entire family to spend some time together this weekend.

Thank you for your support with this initiative and for your help in ensuring students’ voices are heard.

Kind regards,

Teams Classes & Groups

I have finished going through the responses to create new Teams classes from earlier in the year. There may have been changes since then to some of the classes or you may now have extra groups on your timetable that also need to be added.

  • If you have passed a class to another teacher, can you go into that Team & add the new teacher as an owner of the team. You can then leave the team if you are no longer teaching this group.
  • If you have a student teacher, can you go into that Team & add the student teacher as an owner of the team too.
  • If you are going on planned leave e.g., mat leave and you know your replacement ahead of time, please add them into the team as an owner so that they too have access to the team.

If you have teams to be created, can you please fill in the linked form.

  • Can all teachers check to see if there is a second owner already in your teams groups - it'll appear either as CPSTeams or CPSTeams1. If one or other isn't there, add one of them in. This means that if you leave the school or go on unplanned leave etc someone in the IT dept can change over the ownership of the team to another teacher & it saves me creating duplicate teams for the same class each year.

These could be things you could check over during exam week next week to make sure anyone who needs to access the team can do so if/when needed.

Thanks for your help with this.

Kind Regards,

Fundraising for Charities.

Here in Coláiste Pobail Setanta we have a strong tradition of raising money for charities. This money once collected needs to be counted and deposited in the school safe before being lodged in the school bank account where an electronic fund transfer can be made to the charity in question. For this to happen the benefitting charity needs to be set up on Fido, a process that can take a number of weeks. However, there are currently a number of charities already set up on Fido and these charities can receive our monies without delay.

Multicultural Festival

As you are aware, we here at Colaiste Pobail Setanta pride ourselves in the fact we have over 40 different nationalities in our college. Multicultural week is a really important date in our school calendar, and it is fast approaching.

The Student Council are working on the Multicultural Fashion Show which will be filmed on Tuesday the 7th of December. We really want to make this the best it can be in the given circumstance where we cannot do a live show and it will need to be recorded.

Students are encouraged to wear the traditional dress of their country, give interviews on what it means to be Nigerian, Irish, Japanese, Indian, Chinese, to name but a few. We would also love students to volunteer to sing or dance, play an instrument etc for the recording to make it really fun and engaging. There will be incentives and prizes for anyone who gets involved, people who make the most effort, the junior and senior who win the talent section etc. It really would be nothing without the students and so we urge you all to get involved.

There is also going to be a poster competition with a 1st 2nd and 3rd prize for the best made posters to use as background decoration when we film the fashion show. The date to have this handed up will be the 3rd of December and please give to your tutor so they pass them onto Ms. Buckley in Kitchen 2.

We really look forward to seeing what you can do and how you can get involved, as I'm sure like most years the standard and level of talent in this school will blow us away.
