SEN News:

Emma Confrey (3rd Year Assistant Year Head / SEN Link Teacher) and Frances Shannon (SEN Co-Ordinator) last week worked with the 3rd Year students on their return to School after the Easter holidays and prepared RACE Applications on the 3rd Years behalf.

41 x 3rd Year Students were Tested for RACE eligibility over the past 5 months.

32 of these Students qualified for RACE applications.

The 32 Applications were finalized early last week and posted to the SEC for approval.

Following SEC review Parents and students concerned will be notified in writing should the students' applications be successful over the next 6-8 weeks.

Autism Awareness Month:

April is Autism Awareness month. Supervalu and AsIAm have teamed up to launch "Say Yes to Autism Acceptance"

The aim of the campaign is to encourage people to say:

'Yes' for a change. 'Yes' to employment, 'Yes' to education and 'Yes' to community inclusion.

10 Ways we can help in Colaiste Pobail Setanta and within our school community to "Say Yes to Autism Acceptance"

  1. Being clear
  2. Being patient
  3. Reaching out
  4. Being aware of the sensory environment
  5. Fill in the gaps
  6. Being accepting
  7. Watch Your language
  8. Challenge Stigma and bullying
  9. Listening and Learning
  10. Seeing our abilities

Teachers in SPHE, CSPE or Tutorial Class should encourage their class groups to have a conversation around the idea of

"Say Yes to Autism Acceptance". We would also encourage students to make Posters and display them around the school over the remaining two weeks of Autism Awareness month.

Leaving Certificate 2021 Candidate Self Service Portal

The Leaving Certificate 2021 Candidate Self Service Portal will re-open this Tuesday 27 April at 12 noon and will remain open until Friday 30th April at 6pm. All candidates are required to log in and re-confirm their subjects, levels and whether they are sitting the Examination, opting for Accredited Grades, or both, in respect of each subject.

  • This is the final confirmation by students of their intentions for Leaving Certificate 2021.
  • Candidates taking examinations will be able to change their subject level on the day of the examinations.
  • However, the level in each subject which candidates select now will be their final level for the purposes of Accredited Grades.
  • Candidates who did not register on the portal in March will have the opportunity to complete the registration process and to make their final subject level choices. This is the final chance for Leaving Certs to do this to be considered for accredited grades.

Candidates were contacted directly by the State Examinations Commission by text message on Friday 23 April,

using the phone number with which they registered on the Candidate Self Service Portal, to remind them to take this step. An email followed over the weekend from the SEC also.
