Semester 3 Week 4

Welcome Back to Coláiste Pobail Setanta to all our Students and Staff

Colaiste Pobail Setanta will re-open for all on Monday morning with staggered start times, that were sent to all parents/guardians last week and are available from our website. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to face-to-face teaching and learning. Please read the six helpful points on the poster attached “Support for post-primary students”.

We are very aware that year groups 1-4 have been away from the school setting for a long period of time. It is natural to feel a sense of anticipation before coming back to school – some students will feel a little anxious. There is good advice in point 6 of the poster: “There is always someone to help if you feel anxious. If you have any worries, you can reach out to your tutor, year head, guidance counsellor or a trusted adult.”

Prior to your son/daughter returning to school, you are required to confirm that he has no symptoms of COVID-19, he is not self-isolating, awaiting results of a COVID-19 test and has not been advised to restrict his movements. This must be done by completing the form sent to all parents/guardians last week. The form is also available on our website

If your son/daughter’s health should change after submitting the form, please inform the College in the usual way by email or by phone 01 6402403.

Thank you again for your support over the last few months while we continued with on-line learning. Our teachers are very aware of the challenges that lie ahead as we re-group as a community. We are taking guidance and direction from the many resources provided by Department of Education available here.

I am asking both staff and parents/guardians to be very aware of the anxiety levels of our students as they return to school for the first time in over 3 months for our younger students. Please do not emphasise the time that may have been lost to covering the curriculum because of remote teaching and learning. Please do not emphasise how much work needs to be covered between now and the end of the year. Please do not engage in negative conversations with students who for one reason or another did not engage with remote teaching and learning. Our focus needs to be on building then confidence of our students while giving them to skills and tools to re-engage with face-to-face learning in a sustainable way. Confidence can only be built through positive affirming conversations, and that must be our guide as our students return.

Leaving Cert Oral Interviews.

We have completed all of our Oral Interviews for this year’s Leaving Cert class, and this has been achieved through the hard work and dedication of our Modern Foreign Language and Irish teachers over the Easter Holidays. Huge thanks also to Ms. Shannon for organising the whole event and to our caretaking staff that kept our school building open and ready at all times.
