Welcome back to our 5th Year students this morning, we have missed you and are delighted that you have returned.
This morning you will receive a short presentation from your teachers regarding the correct protocols for being in the school building. It is very important that you adhere to all the plans that have been put in place for all of our safety.
Seachtaine na Gaeilge
Seachtaine na Gaeilge is taking place this week (15th-19th). Tá súil againn (we hope) that you will all take part and encourage your students to take part also.
Below is a list of activities taking place school wide, along with some activities you can use in your own subject throughout the week 🙂
School wide activities:
Comórtas Póstaeir - We will be asking all Junior Cycle students to create a poster with cúpla focail or a seanfhocal. Students can submit their posters to their Irish teacher. Prizes available for the top three.
Comórtas Ceoil – We will be asking all students, who have an interest in music, to submit a short video or them singing a song as Gaeilge, or playing traditional Irish music. Students can submit their entries to their Irish teacher. Prizes available for the top three.
Lá Glas – On Tuesday the 16th, we will ask all staff and students to wear green, even the students at home. There will be no charge for the 5th and 6th years. Students at home can submit images of themselves wearing green to their Irish teachers. The best efforts will receive prizes.
Raising of the Flag – On Tuesday the 16th at 12pm, there will be a short ceremony in the courtyard to raise the Irish flag. This is in association with the Thomas Meagher Foundation; Thomas Meagher created the Irish flag. Student representatives along with a member of our Parent's Association and Board of Management will be present.
Staff Kahoot – on Friday the 19th, there will be a Kahoot for all staff members, with prizes available for the top participants
TG4 player - If you wanted to show a documentary, tv show etc. in your lessons there are plenty to choose from here https://www.tg4.ie/ga/
How can I incorporate Gaeilge into my subject? – please find a list of subjects and activities/videos/information you could use during the week
Teams waiting room - why not play some music, as Gaeilge, as your students are in the lobby/waiting room for a Teams call? TG Lurgan have loads of popular songs adapted to Gaeilge on their YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/tglurgan

Leaving Cert Orals and Practical Easter 2021
For Leaving Cert students 2021 opting to sit their Leaving Cert Subjects,
the SEC Orals and Music Practical’s will take place over the two weeks of the
Easter holidays 2021
The SEC Modern Foreign Language Orals will be conducted by a school appointed
MFL Teacher and will take place Easter holidays week 1
between Monday 29th March and Friday 2nd April 2021.
The SEC Irish Orals will be conducted by a school appointed
Irish Teacher and will take place Easter holidays week 2
between Monday 5th April and Friday 9th April 2021.
The SEC Music Practical’s will be conducted by an SEC external examiner during
Easter holidays week 2 between Tuesday 6th April and Friday 9th April 2021.
Leaving Cert Students will be given exact dates and times closer to the date.
