Students Attendance and Absence
This year we are using the VS Ware App so that parents can communicate directly with the College regarding a student’s planned absence, appointments etc, or unplanned absence, illness etc. Please use VS Ware to input this information as we will be slowing phasing out the use of the school journal for this communication. From 5/1/2023 we will no longer accept notes in the journal to grant a student’s permission to leave for an appointment or to excuse an absence. From 5/1/23 we will only accept communication through VS Ware on these items
New Lunchtime Arrangements for 2nd Year Students.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
2nd Year Students have voiced their concerns through their Student Council over the current lunch arrangement, which sees all 2nd Year students stay in for lunch this academic year. Having given this due consideration the college have decided that 2nd Year students can now go home for lunch if they choose to do so. Students who wish to remain in school can also continue to do so. If you would like for your son or daughter to go home for lunch, please sign the section on page 2 of their journal. Insert their name in the line “I understand that _______________from (please insert 2nd Year) will go home for lunch.” Please then sign beside this. Once you have done this, the tutors or Year Head will stamp the journal with the college stamp.
2nd Year students must show their journal to the teacher on duty when exiting through the blue door each day.
We kindly ask that all parents and students read through the Lunchtime Information on Page 2 of the Student Journal together to remind themselves of the Guidelines in relation to Lunchtime Arrangements for students who choose to go home for lunch.
The new lunchtime arrangements will begin on Monday 7th November, allowing the 2nd Year Support team time to check through journals and stamp each one.
Thank you for your support and cooperation with this.

Lámh at Coláiste Pobail Setanta
Lamh is the sign language we are promoting in our school for students who have difficulties communicating verbally. Some of our students are non-verbal and we need them to feel accepted and comfortable in our school. For that reason there is going to be a lamh sign communicated to our students in every assembly, tutorial and class for the whole school to use throughout the day so that it becomes our norm and not just something we try to remember when we meet one of our friends that has communication difficulties.
Last weeks signs were HELLO, FRIEND, I WANT, HELP
Please practice this with your child at home to encourage our work as a whole school on inclusion for all. Put the 4 signs together into a sentence.
HELLO

Minecraft Mentors
Big thanks to our second year Digital Media Literacy students who have been acting as Minecraft Mentors for our first year Digital Media Literacy students this week. Our second years developed Minecraft guides for first year students to use when accessing Minecraft for the first time. Students joined paired games in class to learn the basics and then both class groups played a huge group game together. This was a great opportunity for second year students to showcase their learning and lead by example.
First Year Minecraft Event
Following their training this week, first year Digital Media Literacy students will be taking part in their very own Minecraft event on Monday 7th November during P4 & P5. Students need to remember to bring a set of earphones and their device chargers with them on Monday 7th November. Students will meet Ms. Dunne & Ms. Confrey at Rm 117 straight after lunch to join their event. Students will join a Teams call with the DreamSpace group in Microsoft to learn about Science week through coding.
